NFL.com's Grant Gordon argued the Atlanta Falcons defense showed more signs of promise in Week 2 of the NFL preseason because of the team's rookies.

Offensively, a slow night turned into a wildly exciting third quarter. The Falcons scored 17 points to open the second half but were shut out in the fourth quarter. Undrafted free agent running back Nate Carter rushed for 63 yards on nine carries, including a 43-yard touchdown to get the Falcons back in the game.
