Sky Sports pundit and former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp says he is “amazed” that Ebere Eze is still at Crystal Palace.Tottenham are in talks to sign the attacking
Eberechi Eze is one step away from signing for Tottenham. Eberechi Eze is about to take a significant step in his career. The midfielder from Crystal Palace has agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur since the beginning of the week, as confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Referee England overturned his on-field decision, but explained that the free-kick was ruled out because Guéhi, after successfully shifting Caicedo, had moved to within a metre of the Chelsea wall, which is an infringement in itself. The goal wasn’t ruled out because of the Palace captain’s contact with the Ecuadorian.
Arsenal have adopted a fresh stance over signing Eze amid rival interest from Tottenham and potentially paying over the odds, with Bailey claiming that a move for the England international is actually off for now.
According to reports, Thomas Frank has ‘approved’ Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘priority’ signing after Eberechi Eze as they have ‘launched a £70m bid’. Spurs have been active in this summer’s transfer window as the ninth-biggest spending club in Europe. They have invested around £120m on signings, notably Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel and Joao Pahlinha.
Pape Matar Sarr is once again set to play in the more advanced midfield role, with the deal for the 27-year-old unlikely to be done in time for the first game of the new season. That means just one change for the former Brentford manager, with Wilson Odobert coming in to replace Kevin Danso to allow Spurs to be a bit more attacking.
Eberechi Eze could make Arsenal title winners, but would be afforded more game time at rivals Tottenham, admits ex-Gunner Lee Dixon.
