On Tuesday Oracle announced the release of a new version of its NetBeans IDE, 8.0, that takes advantage of the latest enhancements in Java SE 8, among other changes.

NetBeans 8.1 is now generally available, supporting developers working with Java SE 8, Java SE Embedded 8, and Java ME Embedded 8, and adding a number of new tools and enhancements.

The latest build of the NetBeans IDE, NetBeans 7.2 Release Candidate 1, is now available for download featuring performance upgrades and other enhancements.

But Hilwa noted that the new release drops support for the Ruby programming language. NetBeans IDE 7.0 is available for Windows, Mac, Linux and Oracle Solaris operating systems.
