In the midst of a battle over Windows XP with Sun, Microsoft says it will supply software that lets Java programs link to SQL Server 2000 databases. Is Microsoft warming up to Java?

Microsoft has open sourced the Java language extension it added to SQL Server 2019 last year.

BluePhoenix's ATLAS platform will be used to migrate the legacy language and database from COBOL to a new environment leveraging Java, Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise, Windows Server and Hyper-V.
