Microsoft announces updates of its Java tooling in its Visual Studio Code extension and the Azure Toolkit for IntelliJ, showcasing a host of new features.

Aside from Java support in Azure, which prompted the company to buy Java support services company jClarity in August, Microsoft supports Java development in its open source Visual Studio Code editor.

If Java is not working in VS Code, Edge, Chrome on Windows 11, download the latest version, fix the registry and add environment variables to fix the issue.

The software giant submits a new Java-like software programming language to an industry standards group, hoping to succeed where rival Sun Microsystems has failed.
