For all of you who have a multimeter thrown in a drawer or toolbox but don’t know how to use it, these instructions will help in your search for missing voltage.

Of course there are many other times the multimeter came in handy, but let's just say that it's a great tool. We also use the multimeter in introductory physics labs.

You can test a continuity or multimeter by touching the probes together and checking for the light or moving needle.

You can then use the multimeter’s continuity tester along with a scrap piece of wire that stretches between the two switch boxes to determine the two traveler wires.
