Google Maps and Google Earth can input and create a KML file, and other common geographical programs and programming languages can do so too.

I predict this new feature will produce all kinds of interesting new Google Earth files. You KML developer guys can save this file as KML and look at the resulting KML to figure out how it works.

On your second computer, just double-click the KML file in your cloud folder. It will open Earth with all of your placemarks. This isn’t a perfect solution.
