ST. PAUL -- Some of the biggest stars of the Minnesota State Fair showed up Wednesday, Aug. 22, to get properly settled in before the gates open. Media gathered. Police stopped traffic.

Well, the DNR Fish Pond cam is providing a window into that world. DNR Fisheries crews spent Wednesday stocking the State Fair fish pond with up to 1,000 native fish from more than 30 species.

The trout in the State Fair pond are outsiders, Schrader said, coming from a hatchery in southeast Minnesota. Since most of the fish share water year-round, there’s no fighting for territory.
