It wasn’t Jeff Van Gundy strapped to the ankle of Alonzo Mourning during the peak of the Heat-Knicks rivalry, but Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel found his own way into the thick of a skirmish to break it up at the team’s joint practice Friday with the Chicago Bears at Halas Hall.

Several skirmishes broke out between the Dolphins and Bears during their joint practice on Friday, at least one of which Miami coach Mike McDaniel jumped in the middle of in an effort to break up the fracas.

MIAMI GARDENS -- Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel met with reporters before Day 12 of training camp. On OL Andrew Meyer: "He's had a great camp, really stepped his game up." But Meyer will be out "weeks." McDaniel says in terms of growth of his game, he's "one of the top performers" in camp. FB Alec Ingold remains in concussion protocol.
